To recognize middle school students for kind acts, staff members are given the opportunity to nominate a student for “Middle School Student Caught Being Kind” recognition each month. Our Secondary PBIS Team reviews the nominations and selects one student act of kindness witnessed each month. We thank our friends at Wild Tomato for offering a free pizza to our Middle School Student Caught Being Kind! Our May “Caught Being Kind” student is Elijah Christianson!

CONGRATULATIONS!

First graders visited the Open Door Bird Sanctuary in Jacksonport. They learned amazing bird facts about falcons, hawks, eagles, owls, and turkey vultures. Students played games, hiked, and visited the aviaries while learning about caring for birds. Afterwards, they enjoyed a play break at the Jacksonport Town Park. Thanks to ODBS, parent chaperones, and bus driver, Mr. Dale.

CONGRATULATIONS BRADY! Such a great honor and well deserved.

Mrs. Hoyerman and Mrs. Norton's first graders made realistic drawings of local birds in their EL Module studies this quarter. They will be made into Feathered Friend Savers to help care for birds. Before making the Feathered Friend Savers, they assembled them into a photo for a keepsake. ZOOM IN and TAKE A CLOSE LOOK!

The Gibraltar Players had a fantastic time at the Centerstage Red Carpet Event at the Fox Valley Performing Arts Center. We would like to thank the Gibraltar Administration and Board of Education for supporting us in providing these wonderful theatre experiences!

Nine students of Gibraltar's National Honor Society helped to beautify the stretch of Highway 42 from County EE to the Cherry Hut. In that 2.5 miles stretch the team picked up 14 bags of trash. GREAT JOB TEAM!

EGGstavaganza! You must be familiar with the Egg Harbor EGGstravanga sale that supports their Public Arts Initiative, right? There are only two student-created eggs in the County, and our Gibraltar Middle School Art class is one of them! They only include students every 5 years, so this is pretty special. The eggs will be unveiled on May 25th and auctioned off in August. Part of the proceeds of this egg will go to the Middle School Art Club for fieldtrips. The project started last April and has just been completed! Congratulations Mrs. Mike and the 8th Grade Art Students!

On Monday we started our 2nd annual 8th grade Art Class party for K, 1,2 students.
This year's theme is Cinco de Mayo! The art students make their own festive decorations, crowns or funny hats. Then they invent and build unique games for the kids to play and face painting. We even had students invent a dunk tank! Mrs Mike's personal favorite was the treasure hunt hopscotch that runs down the hallway!
The Fiesta runs through next Monday.

Mrs. Mike took the 8th graders to Hands-on Art Studio! We had a picnic, made ceramics and played outside whiffle ball And games. It was a blast!! Egg sculpture celebration and awesome students award!!🤩

Although it is Teacher Appreciation Week, we at Gibraltar know it takes a village. We appreciate our team! Thank you all for your dedication and hard work in keeping Gibraltar Area Schools amazing.

Spanish high school students visit UWGB’s Spanish Department, sit at an advanced Spanish class (Spanish 325), tour the campus, and finish the morning with a Mexican lunch!

First grade students toured the hospital last week learning about many topics such as hospital workers, emergency care, procedures, and healthy choices. This visit was designed to make students comfortable and knowledgeable in a hospital setting. Shout out to Door County Memorial Hospital for providing an afternoon of onsite learning!

Mrs. McCormack’s ELA 6 class was lucky enough to have Murphy visit this morning. While the class learned more about the Space Race, students took turns hanging out with Murphy. What an excellent way to regulate and feel ready to take on a Monday!

The Middle School Sign Language Club wishes you a Happy National Sign Language Day! April 15th was picked for ASL Day because it is the anniversary of the founding of the American School for the Deaf that opened in 1817.
We celebrate this day to recognize the importance of ASL as a language and a means of communication for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community, as well as to honor the cultural diversity of Deaf communities.
To honor this day our club took a trip to Blue Horse.
Our members practiced their signs as they ordered!
A great time was had by all. 🤟

The second-grade students celebrated their hard work at their Pollinator Celebration. They started by performing a song and then they shared the oral presentations that they created to teach about a pollinator that they learned about. Their posters included flower models and scientific drawings showing the pollination process. They did an amazing job teaching their audience!
