The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has named Gibraltar Elementary School a 2024–25 Wisconsin School of Recognition, an honor highlighting its dedication to student growth and achievement.
Gibraltar Elementary School received the award in the High Achieving AND High Progress categories. This distinction is based on a rigorous set of criteria, including academic performance, measurable progress in student growth or graduation rates, reducing achievement gaps - particularly among students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Wisconsin Schools of Recognition program honors Title I schools that are ensuring educational success for all students, especially among those facing economic challenges.

To recognize middle school students for kind acts, staff members are given the opportunity to nominate a student for “Middle School Student Caught Being Kind” recognition each month. Our Secondary PBIS Team reviews the nominations and selects one student act of kindness witnessed each month. We thank our friends at Wild Tomato for offering a free pizza to our Middle School Student Caught Being Kind! Our May “Caught Being Kind” student is Elijah Christianson!

First graders visited the Open Door Bird Sanctuary in Jacksonport. They learned amazing bird facts about falcons, hawks, eagles, owls, and turkey vultures. Students played games, hiked, and visited the aviaries while learning about caring for birds. Afterwards, they enjoyed a play break at the Jacksonport Town Park. Thanks to ODBS, parent chaperones, and bus driver, Mr. Dale.

Mrs. Hoyerman and Mrs. Norton's first graders made realistic drawings of local birds in their EL Module studies this quarter. They will be made into Feathered Friend Savers to help care for birds. Before making the Feathered Friend Savers, they assembled them into a photo for a keepsake. ZOOM IN and TAKE A CLOSE LOOK!

Nine students of Gibraltar's National Honor Society helped to beautify the stretch of Highway 42 from County EE to the Cherry Hut. In that 2.5 miles stretch the team picked up 14 bags of trash. GREAT JOB TEAM!

EGGstavaganza! You must be familiar with the Egg Harbor EGGstravanga sale that supports their Public Arts Initiative, right? There are only two student-created eggs in the County, and our Gibraltar Middle School Art class is one of them! They only include students every 5 years, so this is pretty special. The eggs will be unveiled on May 25th and auctioned off in August. Part of the proceeds of this egg will go to the Middle School Art Club for fieldtrips. The project started last April and has just been completed! Congratulations Mrs. Mike and the 8th Grade Art Students!
