Most recently, our primary focus is helping students navigate peer conflicts and every day challenges using a core framework from Character Strong called the Tree of Choices. Learning how to resolve conflicts peacefully and independently is a crucial skill for elementary students. The Tree of Choices gives students a visual step-by-step model to help them slow down, understand their feelings, and make positive decisions when challenges arise.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Ephraim Moravian Church, Mrs. Donohue and Mrs. Petrie will be painting a “Peace Path” out on the blacktop on our playground. It will look similar to the photo.
Consistency between school and home makes a huge difference in helping these skills stick. A printed copy of the Tree of Choices poster will be sent home in your child’s backpack! We strongly encourage you to hang this poster in a visible spot at home- such as on the refrigerator or in a study area.

Gibraltar's Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC) invites families to its first Special Interest Forum of the year on Tuesday, October 13, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Gibraltar Community Room.
Guest speaker Kari Bauman will lead a conversation on building a mentoring and buddy system for special education families. The goal is to connect families who are new to the special education process with families who have been there, so no one has to figure it out on their own.
All families of students receiving special education or Section 504 services are welcome, along with anyone interested in learning more.

Our Pupil Services team had the opportunity to learn from guest speaker Connie Persike (Supportable Solutions) during an engaging session on Reframing Behavior. Together, we explored ways to better understand student behavior, shift our perspectives, and respond with empathy, compassion, and purpose.
We are grateful for Connie’s expertise and for our dedicated Pupil Services staff who continually strive to grow, learn, and make a positive difference in the lives of our students! 💙
