WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF ELEMENTARY ART!
The elementary students at Gibraltar School are given many opportunities to be enriched and immersed in the arts. Through art classes twice a week, field trips to Peninsula Art School and the Clearing, collaboration between classes and the art room, Gibraltar students have a broad and varied visual art and design education. The students have also created large pieces of art including painted and tile murals, a beautiful quilt, a Door County hand carved and painted twelve foot tall totem pole, plus many more projects through Friends of Gibraltar's programs.
I am pleased, in the elementary art classroom, to offer a wonderful array of lessons. Sculpture, printmaking, painting, weaving, jewelry, drawing, design, art history, and art appreciation are just a few of the lessons covered.
Students are exposed to many child friendly and safe art materials. Some of which include clay and glazes, wire, wood, metals, exotic (and not so exotic) papers, inks, a variety of paints and brushes, pens and rulers, compasses and printing tools...the list goes on!
This is just a taste of all the fun and learning that goes on in the art room.
Thank You,
Mrs. Donohue
