Big Brothers Big Sisters
Big Brothers Big Sisters impact Gibraltar lives. Youth are impacted through one-to-one mentoring relationships, volunteers know they are an adult role model to youth, and donors make a sound investment with a proven return.
Big Brothers Big Sisters serves Gibraltar Elementary students by partnering them with a positive Gibraltar High School role model. Littles are referred by parents, guardians, guidance counselors, or teachers. Parents or guardians who believe that the child could benefit from the presence of an additional caring adult, give permission for the child to participate in the program. Littles and Bigs alike can come from single and two-parent homes and from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. Matches are done based on the profile information provided at the time of enrollment as to maximize the value of the partnership for both the Little and the Big involved in the match. Read the impact stories here!
Big Brothers Big Sisters is proven by results. With nearly 90% of Littles stating that the mentoring relationship provided them with guidance and support, and had a positive impact on their lives. When compared to their non-matched peers, Littles who partnered with a Big are 52% more likely to stay in school, 75% more likely to earn a college degree, 48% more likely to be active volunteers, and 81% more likely to have successful careers. Littles are our future organizational leaders, and community volunteers. Get the facts here!
