English 12 represents the culmination of English Language Arts education at Gibraltar High School. Reading informational texts and literature, writing, speaking and listening, and refining use of language will be among the content covered. This required course offers a sampling of British literature (selected novels, plays, poetry, essays, short stories and other texts) from prior to 1000 AD to the present, including the reading of classic and contemporary novels. Students demonstrate competency in grammar, usage, and mechanics through a series of compositions and review research and presentation techniques. Written, oral and digital communication assignments are designed to prepare students for post-secondary life including academic, employment, and citizenship roles.
